News from Cape Cod Potters

Held February 9, 2014 at the Cape Cod Museum of Art
60 Hope Lane (off Route 6A), Dennis, MA

Donna Knight’s Sumi-e Brush Workshop was specifically geared toward potters and their use of stains and glazes when doing brushwork. Donna presented Sumi e, the meditative art of Japan's classic black ink brushwork, an art form distinguished by its use of sparse, expressive lines contrasted against airy white spaces. Basic strokes were explored using bamboo brushes and handmade ink on rice paper, as well as western paper.

Some of her work is permanently installed in: St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Harwich; Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Brewster; Cape Cod Covenant Church, Brewster; Eastham United Methodist Church; and Eastham police Facility.

This was a fun informative workshop. This was a hands-on workshop covering a lot of ground (or paper), exploring our brushwork and techniques.

Thanks for a great workshop Donna.
