Held October 28th,2007 At Barnstable Pottery
Kevin graciously hosted this workshop at his own studio. A few years back he hosted Dan Finnegan's workshop. This time, watched Kevin make pots. For those of you who have never seen Kevin throw, this was your chance. When Kevin throws he is so relaxed, throwing seems effortless, watching the form take shape.
Kevin created birdbaths and water features. Some were relatively simple others are very complex. He also walked us through the mechanics of his birdbaths and water features (making water behave?).
Kevin's focus was on sculptural fish fountains and birdbaths as well as functional and practical forms thrown off the hump.
During the workshop Kevin also concentrated on the process of throwing with an emphasis on movement, posture, and practical body mechanics, in an effort to prevent back and upper body strain.
