The Cape Cod Potters will host a Fall Workshop on Sunday, November 18th, with Chris Watt, the new Ceramics Program Director for Castle Hill. Chris will introduce the various ceramic surfaces that are available, discuss suitable clay bodies, demonstrate wadding options, and give a slide lecture about wood firing and the train kiln.

This workshop will give participants an initial introduction to the process and aesthetics of wood-fired ceramics. The class will explore train kiln firing techniques for high temperature firings and the various ceramic surfaces that are possible. There will be studio demonstrations and a discussion of the features of the wood-fired surface and how the fly ash , flashing and reduction from the firing create effects that are directly linked to the firing process.

The workshop will take place at Castle Hill, 10 Meeting House Road, Truro from 1-4 on Sunday afternoon, November 18th. Refreshments will be provided.

The workshop fee for members of Cape Cod Potters is $50.
