News from Cape Cod Potters

04

Hello Cape Cod Potters, My name is Abigail Archer and I have a question about oyster plates. I work as a Fisheries & Aquaculture Specialist and Extension Agent with Barnstable County and Woods Hole Sea Grant. I have been looking for oven safe plates that can be used to bake oysters but have only been able to find a cast-iron version. With COVID-19, oyster sales at restaurants have declined and my colleagues and I are working on initiatives to encourage people to eat oysters at home. I think there's potential for a new pottery product on Cape Cod, but I would love to talk to some potters to see what they think. I love pottery and collecting and using local pieces, but know very little about the process and if an oven-safe oyster plate is possible. I would love to talk with someone in your organization about this idea. Thank you, Abigail Archer aarcher@barnstablecounty.org, 508-375-6702
